The Third Edition of REAP’s Project Newsletter

REAP_newsletter_Vol 3_cover_MCDear Readers,

As I look back at the work that we have accomplished this past year, I am very grateful to our team in Ethiopia and Washington, D.C. for their hard work and dedication. The partnership between IFPRI-REAP and the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA) has continued to grow, and together, we have accomplished a lot.

In this issue, you can read about some of the project highlights from 2014 in my Q&A session. Read the feature article to learn about fieldwork that the team and I took in October for a wheat and barley value chain study. It’s one of the best field trips that I have taken in a long time. You will also learn about a new multi-market model that Nick Minot developed for the ATA that can simulate the impact of certain shocks on Ethiopia’s economy for four major crops; for example, higher maize yields, changes in international prices of wheat, and growing demand for teff.

We look forward to what 2015 may bring. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Sincerely,

Shahid Rashid
